Questions we get a lot
Can I drop my key off before or after hours?
Yes. There's a secure dropbox at the shop, so you can leave your key whenever suits you — before we open, after we close, or over the weekend. Write your name, your number, and what the car's doing on the envelope, and we'll call you once we've had a look at it.
Why do you start with a diagnosis instead of just quoting me?
Because a quote given before anyone has looked at your car is a guess, and guesses are how people end up paying for parts they didn't need. We find out what's actually wrong first, then price that specific repair. It's an extra step up front and it saves people money more often than not.
What does a diagnosis cost?
It depends what's involved — chasing an intermittent electrical fault is a different job to reading a code and confirming it. Give us a call, tell us what the car's doing, and we'll tell you what the diagnostic runs for your vehicle before you bring it in. You'll know the number before you commit to anything.
How long will you have my car?
For most diagnoses, not long — we'll call you as soon as we know what we're looking at, and that's usually the same day or the next one we're open. The repair itself depends on the job and on parts. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we quote it, and we'll tell you if something changes.
Do I need an appointment?
It's best to call first. We're a small shop, so the bays are usually spoken for, and a quick phone call means we can put you in a slot instead of leaving you sitting. If it's something urgent, say so when you ring — we'll tell you honestly whether we can get to it.
Will you do work I haven't approved?
No. You get a number before anything gets touched, and if we find something else once we're in there, we stop and call you. If a repair can wait, we'll tell you that too — you decide what gets done and when.
What kind of vehicles do you work on?
Daily drivers and family cars for the everyday stuff — brakes, suspension, A/C, diagnostics, scheduled maintenance. We also do a fair amount of custom work: exhaust, headers and high-flow cats, and fabrication. If it's something we're not the right shop for, we'll say so rather than waste your time.
Where are you, and when are you open?
1833 Scherer Pkwy in St Charles. We're open Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 7pm, and closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday — though the dropbox means you can still leave a key on a day we're shut.
